MMUST GRADUATES OVER 4,000 STUDENTS WITH DIVERSE QUALIFICATIONS AND TWO HONORARY AWARDS TO KEY PERSONALITIES DURING ITS 17TH GRADUATION IN A GLAMOROUS CEREMONY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) on Friday, December 17 graduated over 4,000 graduates from diverse fields. The highly decorated ceremony saw MMUST confer a honorary award to Equity Bank’s Dr. James Mwangi and another to Dr. Mannilal Premchand Chandaria. The blended event was held at the University Graduation Square in the main campus, Kakamega County.

MMUST JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION STUDENTS INTERACT DIRECTLY WITH KEY INDUSTRY PLAYERS IN MEDIA FROM THE DEUTSCHE WELLE AKADEMIE ALUMNI (KENYA)

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s students of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC), on 14^th December, 2021 shared real time media experiences with a team of media practitioners from the Deutsche Welle Akademie Alumni (KENYA).

The DW team visited MMUST in order to conduct a one on one Discussion Forum with staff and students of Journalism and Mass Communication on ‘Election Reporting and Corruption’ under the theme ‘Corruption in the Media.' The forum was made possible through the coordination of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication led by Mr. Wafula Nyongesa, and in liaison with the University Radio Station, 103.9 MMUST FM.

UASU-MMUST CHAPTER FIRST AGM REVEALS SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS SET TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF ACADEMIC STAFF IN MMUST

The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) -Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Chapter, highlighted its key achievements at its maiden Annual General Meeting (AGM) since the installation of new Union leaders in March 2021, on Tuesday 7^th December, 2021.

Speaking during the hybrid meeting at the Union’s new offices in Milimani, Dr. Bernard Omogo, the Secretary General, said that the Union has witnessed growth in membership from two hundred and eighty-two (282) to three hundred and fourteen (314) members since the Union leaders took office. He encouraged more members to subscribe to the Union, affirming that the only current funds stream for the union is the membership subscription.

MMUST ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ADOPTS THE NEW CONSTITUTION AND ELECTORAL LAWS AS AMENDED BY THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT BOARD

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Alumni Association (MMUSTAA) has adopted the new MMUSTAA constitution and electoral laws that were amended by the University Management Board. The adoption took place during the MMUSTAA two-day workshop held at the Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu County on 26^th and 27^th November 2021. The MMUST alumni workshop was organised by the Directorate of Career Services, headed by Dr. Teresa Okoth.

SCIENCE PARK INNOVATION AND INCUBATION CENTER (SPIIC) HOLDS ITS FIRST DAY OF THE 1ST BLENDED INNOVATION DISSEMINATION WEEK

GLOBAL RESEARCH NETWORK LAUNCH MARKS MMUST’S FRONTLINE POSITION IN ADDRESSING CHALLENGES OF DISPLACEMENT AND MIGRATION RESULTING FROM DISASTERS AND CLIMATE CHANGE

MMUST has taken the lead in the global quest to address the challenges of displacement and migration in the context of disasters and climate change. This was exhibited on 30^th November, 2021, when the University became the center of the official launching of the Climate Mobility Africa Research Network whose Chair is MMUST’s risk mitigation expert, Dr. Nicodemus Nyandiko.  The exciting international panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Tamara Wood of Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law, UNSW Sydney.

MMUST RUGBY TEAM STUNS RECORD KENYA CUP HOLDERS NONDES IN A MATCH STAGED AT MMUST GROUNDS TO CLINCH ITS FIRST WIN IN THE 2021/2022 SEASON!

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology rugby team beat Nondescript RFC to claim the first win of the 2021/2022 Kenya Cup season in an entertaining match played at MMUST Grounds on Saturday 27^th November 2021.

MMUST IDENTIFIED BY THE STANDARD MEDIA GROUP TO HOST THE RADIO MAISHA ‘MAISHA CONCERT FRIDAY SHOW’

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, today 26^th November 2021, has had the privilege to host a Radio Maisha show dubbed ‘Maisha Concert Friday’. This is a Radio Maisha breakfast show program aired every Friday from 6am to 10am and is hosted by Emmanuel Mwashumbe and Ali Swaleh famously known as ‘Shugaboy’.

The event was organized by the Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing (DCCM) led by the Director, Dr. Lydia Anyonje and Marketing Officer, Mr. James Muriithi. This activity is part of DCCM’s strategic objective to enhance the University visibility and promote its corporate image. The show also presented an opportunity for MMUST students to interact with industry players and showcase their competencies in diverse fields.
