MMUST COST CENTRE HEADS SIGN CASCADED PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS FOR THE YEAR 2021/2022

Today, 14th March 2022, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology managers have signed the Cascaded Cost Centre Performance Contracts for the year 2021/2022 at Golf Hotel, Kakamega. The signing ceremony was presided over by the Chairperson of Council Dr. Musangi J. Mutua and the Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo, was organized by the Directorate of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation (PME).

CAMBRIDGE GLOBAL HEALTH PARTNERSHIPS SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP HOSTED BY MMUST RAISES HOPE FOR TACKLING ANTI-MICROBIAL RESISTANCE (AMR)

The Cambridge Global Health Partnerships Sensitization workshop hosted by MMUST on Thursday, March 10, 2022, has raised hope regarding the tackling of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) globally. This activity took place within the Kakamega Cambridge Antimicrobial Stewardship Health Partnership. It was funded through the Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship Scheme, by the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) through the Fleming Fund for the benefit of the UK and partner country health sectors.

MMUST HOSTS BIOCOSMOS AFRICA PUBLIC LECTURE AS SCHOLARS INTERROGATE THE EVOLUTION THEORY AND CONCEPT OF INTELLIGENT DESIGN

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), has today, 9th March, 2022 hosted the BioCosmos Africa public lecture on 'The Evolution Theory & the Question of Intelligent Design'. The international event drew renowned, experienced speakers from the United States of America (USA) and Norway who guided the discourse on the concept of Intelligent Design Theory. These scholars included, Dr. Richard Ochieng (Chairperson BioCosmos Kenya), Dag Kr. Norli (CEO BioCosmos Africa/Norway), Prof. Kjell Tveter (BioCosmos Africa/Norway) and Dr. Paul A. Nelson (Discovery Institute- USA).

MMUST RECEIVES A DONATION OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND (100,000) KENYAN SHILINGS AND AIRTIME WORTH FIFTY THOUSAND FROM SAFARICOM COMPANY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) today, 10th March 2022, received a donation of one hundred thousand (100,000) Kenyan Shillings and Airtime worth fifty thousand (50,000) from Safaricom Company. The team from Safaricom Company paid a courtesy call to the Patron, Tamasha Cultural Festivals 2022, Prof. Edwin Wamukoya who appreciated Safaricom for supporting MMUST.

This donation is made towards the forthcoming Tamasha Cultural Festival that is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday 11th March 2022 to Sunday, 13th March 2022. Safaricom will now be among the sponsors of the cultural event. They have an exhibition tent during the festival to showcase and offer their services to staff and students at a free cost.

MMUSO ELECTIONS FINALLY COME TO A CLOSE AS STUDENT LEADERS TAKE OATH OF OFFICE

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo, on Tuesday, 8th March, 2022, presided over the swearing-in-ceremony of the newly elected Masinde Muliro University Student Organization (MMUSO) officials. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Main Catering Unit shortly after a re-run for the position of the Co-Curricular Secretary. The re-run was conducted pursuant of the MMUSO Constitution Article 74 to address a tie for the position of the Co-Curricular Secretary which arose during the Students Executive Council (SEC) elections held on 4th March, 2022.

STUDENTS DECIDE; MMUST’S 5TH PARLIAMENT VOTED IN AFTER HIGHLY CONTESTED MMUSO PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS 2022

In a bid to ensure free and fair students’ elections, Masinde Muliro University Students Organization (MMUSO), in conjunction with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) - Kakamega County, peacefully voted in its 5th Parliament of student leaders during the 5th MMUSO Parliamentary Elections 2022. The highly contested elections were carried out at the University’s Main Campus and Bungoma Campus on Thursday, 3rd March and Friday, 4th March 2022.In accordance with MMUSO Constitution Article 65, the leaders-elect thereafter voted in the Student Executive Council (SEC), today 4th March 2022.

MMUST HOSTS THE NATIONAL DEAFLYMPICS WOMEN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2022, KAKAMEGA COUNTY EDITION

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) was the host of the National Deaflympics Women Football Championship 2022, Kakamega County edition, on Friday, 4th March 2022. Organized by the Deaf Football Federation of Kenya, the Championship aimed at selecting a team to represent Kenya and Africa in the World Deaf Championships in Brazil in May 2022.

MMUST FEMALE JOURNALISM STUDENTS AMONG 2021 COHORT GRADUATES AFTER YEAR LONG MENTORSHIP

Ten MMUST Female Journalism students are among the 4th Edition of graduates under the International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) Female Journalism Mentorship Programme. The students successfully graduated on Friday, 25th February, 2022 after a one year mentorship programme.

International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT-Kenyan Chapter) with the support of the US Embassy Nairobi, Media Council of Kenya and other media stakeholders concluded the 2021 Female Mentorship programme of fifty (50) students from five (5) public universities. The 2021 cohort involved students from Moi University, Maseno University, Maasai Mara University, Technical University of Mombasa and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

UNIVERSITY IS AS GOOD AS ITS PROFESSORS, MMUST PROFESSORS ADVISED

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) held a one day Workshop dubbed ‘MMUST Professors Mentorship Program for Upcoming Faculty’ on Wednesday, 2nd March 2022 at the Kakamega Sports Club. Organized by the Directorate of Research and Postgraduate Support, the Workshop brought together Full and Associate Professors of the University to deliberate on matters mentorship, research, teaching, consultancies among others.

While laying the foundation of the Workshop, the Director, Research and Postgraduate Support, Prof. Peter Bukhala stated that by holding the Workshop, the University was fulfilling requirements of the Performance Contract. He acknowledged the role of the University in supporting research activities noting that the Directorate had, so far, hosted sixteen (16) workshops with different groups and sponsored thirty three (33) researches in 2020/2021 and fifty two (52) researches in 2021/2022.
