MASINDE MULIRO UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY STAFF LIKELY TO ACCESS AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology staff can now access affordable housing courtesy of Pinnie Agency Limited through the National Housing Corporation. This has been made possible as a result of the joint efforts of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), the County Government of Kakamega and Pinnie Agency Limited. On Friday 25th February, 2022, the teams met at the Main Catering Unit (MCU) to discuss implementation of the Affordable Housing Project. This was aimed at fulfilling one of the government’s Big Four Agenda of providing affordable housing to fill the gap of housing shortages in the region.

UASU MMUST CHAPTER ACHIEVES GREAT MILESTONE WITH THE SIGNING OF THE 2013-2017 COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT

The University Academic Staff Union MMUST Chapter, yesterday, 24th February, 2022, achieved a great milestone with the signing of the 2013-2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The signing ceremony was presided over by the Council Member-Chairman Human Resource Committee, Dr. Ahmed Diriye and conducted at the Vice Chancellor’s Boardroom.

MMUST RESEARCHERS RECOMMEND UTILIZATION OF COMMUNITY HEALTH UNITS AS AN ADAPTABILITY STRATEGY TO ENHANCE HOME BASED CARE IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology researchers have recommended utilization of Community Health Units (CHU) as an adaptability strategy for COVID-19 response in Navakholo Sub-County. This was revealed during dissemination of findings by the team of researchers that was held yesterday, 23rd February, 2022 at the Navakholo Sub-County Hospital. The team was led by the Principal Investigator, Dr. Maximillah Wanzala.

PEACE AMBASSADORS MMUST CHAPTER CONDUCT PEACE WALK AHEAD OF MMUSO’S ELECTIONS

The Peace Ambassadors Kenya (PAK), a Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Chapter students’ club, yesterday, 23rd February 2022, held a peace walk within the University and the surrounding community. The walk is aimed at advocating for peaceful elections among students. The three-day (3) walk themed, ‘Let there be Peace in Kenya and let it begin with me’ was led by their Patron, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning Research and Innovation) Prof. Charles Mutai. This event comes days before Masinde Muliro University Students’ Organization (MMUSO) elections which are set for 3rd and 4th March, 2022.

MMUST CAREER FAIR 2022 SHOWCASES GREAT INNOVATIONS AND INVENTIVE SOLUTIONS FROM STAFF AND STUDENTS

The just ended MMUST Career Fair 2022 was a showcase of some of the great innovations and inventive solutions from staff and students. The Directorate of Career Services which coordinated the event, involved schools and some key directorates to make the Career Fair a success.

3D Printing Machine from the School of Natural Sciences (SONAS). It is able to print an assortment of 3D designs such as the structure of the human Hearts, the skeleton of the human body, embossed signage, and glass frames. The beauty with this machine is that it can print anything you program it to.

MMUST AND STAN CHART DISCUSS KEY COLLABORATIVE AREAS IN SUSTAINABLE GREEN CIRCULAR ECONOMY (SGCEM) AS STAFF RECEIVE TRAINING IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on Friday 18th February 2022, identified and discussed key collaborative areas with Stanchart in a bid to establish a Sustainable Green Circular Economy (SGCEM) at MMUST.

Speaking during the meeting held at the Vice Chancellor’s Boardroom, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Students Affairs, Prof. Hussein Golicha expressed delight regarding the gesture by the Stanchart team, who are not only supporting MMUST but also going into partnership with MMUST in areas that are key to community transformation and improvement of livelihoods.  

MMUST 2022 CAREER FAIR REVEALS THE URGENT NEED FOR FINANCIAL AND LIFE SKILLS AMONG YOUTH

The Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology 2022 Career Fair held recently from 17th to 19th February 2022, has revealed the urgent need for financial and life skills among youth at Tertiary and University levels. The three-day event themed, "Learning Beyond Training" which took place at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) was coordinated by the Directorate of Career Services together with schools and directorates. The event was graced by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics and Students Affairs (DVC, ASA) Prof. Hussein Golicha who represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo.  Prof. Golicha officially opened the Career Fair on behalf of Prof. Shibairo.

Steered by the Director Career Services Dr. Teresa Okoth, the Career Fair attracted various professional bodies, sponsors and students from different secondary schools within the region. This includes; Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS)National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), Equity Bank, Media Council of Kenya (MCK), Standard Media Group and Standard Chartered Bank.

MMUST IDENTIFIED BY ABT ASSOCIATES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PRESIDENT'S MALARIA INITIATIVE TO ROLL OUT MALARIA ERADICATION PROJECT IN WESTERN REGION

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has been identified by the ABT Associates in collaboration with the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) to roll out a Malaria control and eradication project in the Western region. The team from ABT Associates visited the University on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, to conduct a capacity assessment geared towards identifying, understanding, and validating the possibility of partnering with MMUST.
