SDMHA in Partnership with the Lions Club International (Kakamega) Conducts Charity Event at Kakamega School for the Deaf

on Saturday 23rd March 2024, the School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (SDMHA) in partnership with the Lions Club International (Kakamega) held a charity event where they visited the Kakamega School of the Deaf. The team offered an assortment of donations and various services to the school such as cleaning the compound, classes, and dormitories, washing, and counseling the teens. The event was aimed at empowering the children, promoting inclusivity, and providing them with resources for education and skill development. The Dean, Dr. Ferdinand Nabiswa organized this event.

The Lions Club International (Kakamega) team together with MMUST Redcross. 

The students who participated in the outreach included SDMHA- 2nd year students who were undertaking their Field Skills, and students belonging to various clubs in the University such as Kenya Red Cross Society, Disaster and Environmental Management Association (DEMA), Rotaract Club of MMUST, MJOSA, Ajira Digital Club, Scouts Club, and Accounting Students Associations, and Make Detox.

The team from the Lions Club International (Kakamega) included Mr. Rajinder Sembi and Ms. Amarpreet Kaur. They noted that they are delighted to partner with MMUST in transforming communities. 

This is among the many outreaches SDMHA has participated in. It is a good opportunity for the students to interact with real community needs. This inspires students to find solutions and work towards bringing change in the society.
