MMUST Students Receive Bronze Award Accolade from President's Award Kenya Program

Today November 3, 2023, a group of MMUST students were honored with the prestigious Bronze Award from the esteemed President’s Award - Kenya Program. The program, which aims at empowering and recognizing the efforts of youths in the nation, focuses on nurturing leadership, teamwork, and community engagement skills. The awards were presented to the students by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Hussein Golicha in a special ceremony held in his office.  This recognition stands as a testament to the students’ remarkable efforts in making a positive impact within their communities. It also highlights the University’s dedication to fostering well-rounded individuals dedicated to enhancing the well-being of society.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Golicha congratulated the students for their commitment to personal growth and community service, noting that their dedication to excellence and positive contribution to society will always serve as a source of inspiration for their peers and future generations. Commending their exemplary contributions, he urged them to continue embracing the spirit of leadership and service, stressing on the University’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and social responsibility among its students.

“We appreciate you for your exceptional commitment and dedication to personal and community development. MMUST has always been committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals who not only excel academically but also contribute significantly to society. I encourage you to keep going, knowing that your efforts are not only shaping your own futures but also inspiring others to follow in your footsteps,” said Prof. Golicha.

Ms. Tabitha Shisia, the Patron of the President’s Award Kenya – MMUST Chapter, was excited for her students. Her exceptional leadership and commitment to the cause has played a pivotal role in guiding and inspiring them to excel not only academically but also in their personal and communal endeavors.

Speaking to one of the students Ms. Sylvia Ajiambo who is currently in her fourth year of studies pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry, she revealed that the program has provided her with the opportunity to learn the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and the profound impact that small acts of kindness can have on our communities.

“I feel humbled and confident because I know that I can achieve whatever I set my mind to. The Bronze award recognition has reinforced my belief in the boundless possibilities that lie ahead, fueling my determination to strive for even greater heights in my pursuits for excellence,” said Ms. Ajiambo.

Similarly, Mr. William Thethe, a fourth-year student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Economics lauded the program’s ability to inspire and empower young individuals to take on challenges, nurture essential life skills, and instill a sense of responsibility and commitment to making a positive difference in society. He extended his gratitude for the opportunity, acknowledging that it has contributed immensely towards him gaining values such as discipline, resilience, teamwork, time management and service, which he said are essential for success in both personal and professional spheres.

Recognizing the multifaceted needs within our communities, Mr. Thethe passionately advocated for a spirit of communal assistance and underscored the pivotal role of giving back as a means to create a more supportive and resilient society.
