MMUST TAMASHA FESTIVAL 2021 COMMENCES WITH POWERFUL CULTURAL DIVERSITY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s annual Tamasha Cultural Festival 2021-Phase1, kicked off on a high note with a culturally diverse and decorated official opening ceremony at the University’s graduation square on Wednesday 21st July 2021.This year’s Tamasha Festivals, whose theme is ‘Leveraging Our Cultural Diversity and Resilience in COVID-19 Era’, is a celebration and appreciation of Cultural diversity, National and International Cohesion.

MMUST STUN IMPALA TO CLINCH SECOND KENYA CUP WIN!!

The Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Rugby Team, popularly known as ‘Makaka’, beat Impala Saracens 21 – 12 over the weekend to clinch their second Kenya Cup win.

MMUST’s RESEARCH TEAM RECOMMENDS HOME-BASED PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES FOR MENTAL WELL-BEING DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

A team of researchers from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology led by the Principal Investigator, Prof. Peter Bukhala recently embarked on sensitizing the Community and health volunteers in Kakamega County on the importance of physical activities for mental wellbeing during the pandemic. The participants were drawn from various Sub-Counties in Kakamega, including Butere, Ikolomani, Khwisero, Lurambi, Malava, Matungu, Mumias East and Navakholo. The training workshop which was held at Bukhungu Stadium on Friday, 9th July, 2021, was founded on a study that the team had carried out in March 2021 titled ‘Home-based Physical Activities Model for Improving Mental Well-being of Kakamega County Residents during COVID-19 Pandemic.’

MMUST’s Collaboration With German’s Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences Yields Successful Launch of Assorted Equipment to Aid Multidisciplinary Projects in the Institution

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology through the Directorate of International Relations and Academic Linkages (DIAL), has today officially launched assorted equipment courtesy of DAAD funded project dubbed ‘practice-oriented University Education in Western Kenya (ProUniEdu-WeK)’The assortment of equipment and software launched will ensure effective teaching, learning and research in collaboration with faculty from BAUS at MMUST.

GOODWILL VISIT TO MMUST BY THE KAKAMEGA COUNTY GOVERNOR H.E HON.WYCLIFFE AMABETSA OPARANYA -GOOD NEWS FOR JOINT DEVELOPMENT AGENDA

The recent visit to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on 8th July 2021 by H.E the Governor, Hon Wycliffe Oparanya is bound to greatly enhance the already cordial working relations between the two government institutions. Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya has been associated with MMUST even before he became the governor. “The partnership between MMUST’s School of Medicine and the County government has allowed MMUST to use facilities for County hospital for teaching and the doctors from the hospital to teach at MMUST. This began in 2015 and will go on up to 2025. We are interested in strengthening the relationship further,” stated H.E Hon. Oparanya.

MMUST’S QUEST TO ACHIEVE SUPERB GLOBAL POSTIONING IN ACADEMIC PUBLISHING LIKELY TO BECOME A REALITY THROUGH ‘AVOID DR. KANDA’S DUSTBIN’ CAMPAIGN

MMUST’s quest to achieve superb global positioning in academic publishing is soon going to bear fruit through a campaign mooted by the Webometrics Unit, Directorate of Research and Post-Graduate Support, Directorate of Postgraduate Studies and the Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing to popularize publishing in ‘credible’ journals. Two MMUST scholars, Dr. Edwin Kimutai Kanda of Civil and Structural Engineering and the Coordinator of Webometrics and Short Courses, Dr. Dennis Ochieno, is leading the campaign dubbed, ‘Avoid Dr. Kanda’s Dustbin’.  ‘Dustbin’ is a collection of journals which are not indexed in credible databases.

MMUST RECEIVES CHEQUE DONATIONS TOWARDS THE 14TH MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE AND UPCOMING 16TH GRADUATION CEREMONY FROM INVEST AND GROW(IG) SACCO

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) , on 12th July, 2021, received cheque donations of 50,000/= and 40,000/= from Invest and Grow(IG) Sacco,Kakamega.The Ksh 50,000 is towards the 14th Multi-disciplinary Conference while the Ksh. 40,000 is their contribution to support MMUST’s Upcoming 16th Graduation Ceremony slated for 20th August,2021.

MMUST’S SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCES HOLD DISCUSSIONS TO TACKLE FACTORS INFLUENCING POSTGRADUATE COMPLETION RATES

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s School of Natural Sciences (SONAS) has taken steps to address factors influencing completion rates of its postgraduate students. This was during a semi-virtual Seminar that took place on Friday, 2nd July, 2021.
