Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has today received state of Art workplace equipment worth 4.2 Million Kenyan Shillings from the Centre for International Migration (CIM) given to the University courtesy of Mr. Willis Awandu, who is a tutorial fellow in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering and Dr. Celine Awino Omondi from physics department.  This donation by CIM, through the Program Migration and Development (PMD), has been funded by Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and is meant for use in his research and teaching. The equipment will also be available for use by staff and students undertaking water related courses and research in the Department.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) is set to strengthen its working relations and financial engagements with Equity bank. The main focus of the partnership will be based on three pillars; Solar, Health matters as well as the establishment and equipping of the MMUST Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institute. This follows the visit by the Equity Bank Manager Kakamega Branch Mr. Peter Kuyu, the Director Marketing/ Public Sector and Institution manager Mr. David Nyamu to the University on Tuesday October 19, 2021.

Meshing staff, unions and management in a strengthened working relationship and shared vision increases effectiveness in the operations of Universities. On the other hand, failure to  integrate the three will result in chaotic management of Universities ocassioned by ethnicity,  nepotism, delayed promotions, breach of bargaining agreements, unconducive working environment, bureaucracy, bad policies, and lack of commitment to ‘union matters’. These are the findings of a  study by Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) involving close to 165 staff which were shared  yesterday, Tuesday 19th October 2021 in a workshop at the Bishop Stam Pastoral Centre, Kakamega County.

MMUST is partnering with StanChart Bank Kenya in the upcoming marathon slated to take place later this month on 29th October 2021. Speaking during his visit to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on Friday, 15th October 2021, the CEO StanChart Bank Kenya, Mr. Kariuki Ngari reiterated the bank’s readiness to work with MMUST on this year’s marathon as well as a host of other activities and projects.

A team of experts from the Optometry Department at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, yesterday 14th October 2021, availed to the community free eye screening and treatment of visual impairments at Bukura Health Centre in celebration of the World Sight Day. Led by the Chairman of the Department Mr. George Sowayi, the team showcased their expertise in dealing with diverse visual problems diagnosed. Some of the visual problems they   detected included Binocular, Myopia and Presbyopia. They offered interventions of drug treatment, free spectacles and referrals to severe cases.

The one-week Customer Service celebrations hit its climax today Friday, 8th October 2021 with an auspicious closing ceremony graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo. Speaking during the event, the Vice Chancellor applauded the Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing (DCCM) for their productive work which has put MMUST in good light. He stressed on the importance of commemorating Customer Service Week stating that it is a time when we raise awareness of the value of customer service. “Effective and quality customer care service improves our reputation and attracts more students to this institution. I urge you to continue offering quality services to all the clients visiting MMUST,” added the Vice Chancellor.

A team of researchers from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology have ascertained that gender inclusion in research and Management is key to career progression among academic staff in Universities. The team of researchers led by Rev. Prof. Judith Achoka (Principal Investigator), conducted a dissemination workshop yesterday, 5th October 2021 at Bishop Stam, Kakamega County.
