MMUST Hosts Delegation From Maasai Mara University for Benchmarking Exercise

We are delighted to inform you that on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, MMUST hosted a delegation from Maasai Mara University which was on a benchmarking exercise on the operations of different sections of the University. 

MMUST STEM Scholars Enrich Teacher Capacity for Improved Performance in Science and Mathematics in Vihiga and Kakamega Counties

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) scholars in the field of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), conducted a one-day training workshop to equip and enrich teacher capacity for improved performance in Science and Mathematics in Kakamega and Vihiga Counties.

The event organized by Dr. Amuyunzu Mang'are, brought together teachers of Science and Mathematics from more than ten schools and was held on Saturday, 16th July 2022 at Friends Girls High School-Igunga. This training was necessitated by the worrying trend of underperformance in the subjects and low uptake of students taking science programs in Universities.

MMUST’s Cordial Partnership With the County Government of Kakamega Likely to Lead to Development of a Child Care Centre in the County

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) cordial partnership with the County Government of Kakamega is likely to lead to the development of a Child Care Centre in the County. This was revealed during a consultative meeting spearheaded by the School of Education (SEDU) on13th July, 2022 together with the Ag. Kakamega County Executive Committee Member for Education Science and Technology, Dr. George Lutomia.

The meeting was graced by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Planning Research and Innovation (PRI), Prof. Charles Mutai, who applauded the MMUST researchers for coming up with the noble idea of developing a childcare centre that would boost inclusive upbringing of children in the County.

Prof. Josephine Ngaira of MMUST Leads Humanitarian Intervention Outreach for People With Disability in Manda- Shivanga Ward, Kakamega County

On 15th July, 2022, Prof. Josephine Ngaira of MMUST led a technical team from the School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (SDMHA) to conduct a humanitarian Intervention Outreach for People Living with Disability (PLWD) in Manda-Shivanga Ward, Kakamega County. The event, which took place at Tombo Community Dispensary, was organized by Prof. Josephine Ngaira together with the Coordinator, outreaches in the School, Dr. Ferdinand Nabiswa. Dr. Nabiswa is also the Coordinator, Kenya Red Cross, Bungoma and Trans-Nzoia Counties. This initiative attracted key players including medical officers from the University clinic, experts from the Department of Health Promotion and Sports Science as well as a group of SDMHA students currently on attachment at the Kenya Red Cross, Kakamega branch.

The European Union Election Observers, Mr. Janno Simm, and Ms. Jurga Vilpisauskaite Visits MMUST!

We are delighted to inform you that the European Union Election Observers, Mr. Janno Simm, and Ms. Jurga Vilpisauskaite today, 15th July 2022 visited MMUST with the aim of establishing the involvement of media and other critical stakeholders in the forthcoming elections. 

MMUSO Leaders Undergo Intensive Induction Training to Foster Transformative Leadership in the University

Masinde Muliro University Student Organisation (MMUSO) leaders are currently undergoing an intensive induction training to foster transformative leadership in the institution. The five-day workshop which kicked off yesterday, Tuesday 12th July 2022 is being conducted at the Kisumu Hotel-Kisumu County. The training will run until Friday 15th July 2022.

MMUST Students to Get Industry Links as the University Begins MOU Talks With Innovative Academic Placement Solutions

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s students are set to get industry connections as talks to collaborate with Innovative Academic Placement Solutions (INAPS) kick off. On Tuesday, 5th July, 2022, MMUST hosted the President and Founder-CEO, INAPS, Ms. Emma Njiru, to discuss the details of the partnership as well as the possible areas of collaboration.

Ms. Njiru, who was accompanied by INAPS Chief Regional Advisor, Mr. Juvenal Araka, was received by MMUST’s Acting Registrar (Planning, Research and Innovation), Prof. Alice Chesambu Ndiema, and the Acting Director, International Relations and Academic Linkages, Dr. Ferdinand Nabiswa.

MMUST Conducts Defensive Driving Training for Its Drivers to Improve Competencies and Curb Possible Road Hazards

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, on 30th June 2022 conducted a three-day Defensive Driving Training for its drivers. The training which was carried out in conjunction with Automobile Association of Kenya will equip MMUST drivers with a set of road skills, strategies and techniques. They will also improve their competencies and be aware of the possible road hazards.
