Dr. Omondi Tyrus Swaya is a Tutorial Fellow at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). He lectures in Molecular Oncology, Cell Biology, General Pathology, Medical Histology and Cytology, Histopathology and Cytopathology, Forensic Medicine, Clinical Hematology and Clinical Physiology.Dr.Swaya holds a PhD in Medical Histopathology and Clinical Cytology, Msc. in Medical Histopathology and Cytology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science and Technology with IT from Maseno University.

Dr. Swaya’s professional objective is to promote global public health and medical education through Radio-oncology research and academia while steering the institution to achieve its mandate and transform the society.He is skilled in Primer design and genotyping using restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP); Immuno-phenotyping by flow cytometry analysis; DNA extraction from buccal swabs and DNA genomiphi amplification assays; Real time PCR; Antibody ELISA; ELISPOT assays, DNA extraction from dry blood spots (DBS) and HIV diagnosis by PCR; Data analysis: SPSS; GraphPad Prism.

His areas of research interests are Cancer Chemo resistance, Cancer Biology and Climate change, Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics, Cancer Diagnostics and Biomarker as well as drug discovery.

He has supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
