Prof. Basil T. Iro Ong’or

Professor Basil Ong’or is an Associate Professor of Hydrology of MMUST and holds a PhD Degree in Hydrology and Water Resource, a MSc. degree in Water Resources Engineering and a BSc Degree in Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water). His areas of academic and professional speciality and interest are in  Groundwater and Surface water flow and quality transport Modeling, hydrology, water resources management and Engineering,  designs of Irrigation and Drainage structures, water supply and sanitation structures as well as  monitoring and Evaluation of Water resources and environmental projects. His experience in university administration include serving as the substantive Dean of Faculty of Engineering for six (6) years, acting as a Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Finance) for close to 10 months, and as a Director of Privately Sponsored students Programme, Learning Centers and Campuses for one (1) year.  Currently he serves as the Chairman of Postgraduate Studies in School of Engineering and Built Environment. He previously served in the Ministry of Agriculture/ Ministry of Water and Irrigation as District Irrigation and Drainage Engineer in various stations in Kenya for ten (10) years.  He is a member of Engineers Registration Board, Institution of Engineers of Kenya and International Association of Hydrological Sciences.
