Dr. Eng. Peter T. Cherop
Dr. Eng. Peter Cherop serves as the Associate Dean in the School of Engineering and Built Environment and as a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK). He holds a Doctor of Engineering Degree from Durban University of Technology. With over eighteen years of dedicated experience in academia and research, Dr. Cherop has made significant contributions to the education and mentorship of future engineers. He is responsible for teaching a range of critical subjects to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including Thermofluids, Pollution Control, Extractive Metallurgy, and Research Methods. His research interests are focused on pressing global challenges, with key areas being sustainable energy solutions, innovative waste management strategies, and advanced environmental engineering. This focus is reflected in his substantial publication record in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and his active participation and contribution in numerous national and international scientific conferences, where he consistently shares his findings and engages with the broader academic and industry community. Beyond academia, Dr. Cherop possesses considerable industrial experience, gained through sustained involvement in various industry-focused projects. This practical engagement ensures his research and teaching remain relevant and applied. Dr. Cherop is keenly committed to enhancing engineering research through the establishment of robust linkages and partnerships with other universities, research institutions, and industry organizations, thereby fostering innovation and knowledge exchange.
