MMUST’s Dr. Peter Bukhala Recognized As East Africa Regional Expert In The Development Of Sports Education

The Inter- University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) has identified Dr. Peter Bukhala as a regional Expert in Sports Education. The Council which brings together universities across several countries, invited Dr. Bukhala to the first Workshop of ‘Developing Benchmarks for Sports Education Programmes’ in the East African region. The workshop was held from 13th to 17th January, 2020 in Arusha, Tanzania.

Prof. Rainer Malessa from Hochschule Brandenburg, Germany visits MMUST for Catalyst Training

Prof. Rainer Malessa from Hochschule Brandenburg, Germany arrived at the University on 20th Janaury 2020, to commence a Catalysis training workshop hosted by the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, School of Natural Sciences (SONAS) and coordinated by the Chair of  the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Dr. Francis Orata.

The workshop is set to benefit both staff and students across several disciplines including Mechanical Engineering. This is an interactive and intensive workshop that will stretch up to 31st January, 2020.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Exhibits Expertise In Eye Care during Baringo County Medical Camp

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) recently had an opportunity to showcase their expertise in Eye Care Health following an invite by the Baringo County Government to participate in a medical camp. This event was organized to offer free medical services to the Tenges community in partnership with Tenges Development Forum (TDF). The other partners involved in the camp included Mediheal Group of Hospitals, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Baringo County Government and National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). The main objectives of the outreach were Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), supporting the government universal health care initiative, educating the community about health covers and offering free medical services.

MMUST rolls out Its Largest Batch Of Granduands into the Job Market in a Colorful 14th Graduation Ceremony

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) on Friday 6th December, 2019 rolled out its largest number of graduands ever during the 14th graduation ceremony. The theme of this year’s graduation was; “Re-engineering Higher Education through Competency based Training, Research and Innovation.”

MMUST Chancellor, Dr. Peter Wanyaga Muthoka on Saturday 7th of December 2019 led a university delegation to Prof. Bethwell Allan Ogot’s home in Yala, Siaya County. The delegation comprised of the Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Asenath Sigot , Council members Dr. Samson Muchelule and Mr. Don Riaroh , Ag. MMUST RFC Beats Kisii to Keep Kenya Cup Dream Alive

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST RFC) put in a spirited fight to clinch a narrow 8-06 victory over Kisii RFC breaking a Championship jinx between the two in a match played at Gusii stadium on Saturday 16th November, 2019. The hosts opened the score sheet from two penalties successfully converted by Brian Onguti to make the scores 6-0. Nobert Lumbwani of MMUST RFC would wrestle against a defending Kisii pack at the dying moments of the second half, touching down past the whitewash to make it 06-05 at half time.

MMUST Literature and Language Education (LLE) Department takes the lead to launch their first book on ‘Communication Skills: A handbook for students’

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has once more attained global recognition and joined the international higher education trend setters after launching a book on Communication Skills published by its own leading scholars in the Literature and Language Education Department (LLE). MMUST can now boast of academics who produce knowledge not only for their students but also for the universal audience. The book has eight (8) chapters and has been edited by Dr. David Barasa and Dr. Benard Mudogo both of LLE department. The authors of the book are Dr. David Barasa, Dr. Lucy Mandillah, Dr. Benard Mudogo, Dr. Atichi Alati, Dr. Tobias Omondi and Ms. Hazel Kubebea. This great team of intellectuals has ensured the success of this important publication that will now aid the studies of many students not only at MMUST but also across the nation.

MMUST and GIZ Chat way forward to Skill-Based Curriculum

The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) consultants held comprehensive discussions, on Friday 18th of October 2019 with Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s academic experts on how to improve curriculum and qualifications, directing them towards skills-orientation to suit the job market through proper collaboration.

MMUST Leading Environmental Scientist is the First Kenyan to Clinch Prestigious Appointment to Represent East Africa in Africa Science and Technology Advisory Group (Af- STAG)

Dr. Nicodemus Nyandiko, a lecturer in the Centre of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), goes into history books as the first Kenyan to be nominated into the Af-STAG board. The prestigious appointment of Dr. Nyandiko to the Af-STAG board has propelled MMUST into the global limelight as the leading University in Disaster Risk Reduction matters and as a Centre of excellence for training professionals in Disaster Risk Management. Dr. Nyaniko and Tarekegn Ayalew from Ethiopia are the only experts in Disaster Risk Mitigation who have been nominated to represent the East African region. This is the region that encompasses IGAD and East Africa on the Af-STAG board which was established by the African Union Commission (AUC).
