The workshop attracted researchers from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), Maseno University, Kibabii University, Rongo University, Kisii University, Kisumu National Polytechnic, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology and Tom Mboya University College. MMUST Team was represented by Dr. Dennis Ochieno, Coordinator Sort Courses and Webometrics, Dr. Regina Bwire African Women in Science and Engineering (AWSE), Dr. Edwin Kanda, lead Webometrics Champion (SEBE) Dr. Michael Ojema, Chairman, Postgraduate Studies (SONAS) and Lydia Ogonda, Webometrics Champion (SOM).The MMUST team presented a research concept titled ‘Wastage of Research and Innovation Resources and Outputs in Africa’.

This topic caught the attention of the organizers as a highly important area of research and innovation that could have great influence on government Policy. It is worth noting that ranking of universities performance through webometrics took the centre stage, and this could be attained by upscaling research and innovation activities coupled with publishing in credible journals that are featured in the Web of Science. Researchers were advised to obtain ORCID and Research ID (Publons) as well as enrol on Google Scholar, which are important for NRF operations. In this respect MMUST has already developed a webometrics policy that enables the institution to achieve higher standards in research innovations and publishing for world visibility.
