MMUST Hosts Lurambi Constituency MP, Hon Titus Khamala, to Discuss Collaboration in TVET Training

 

Hon. Khamala, who is serving his second term in Parliament, was accompanied by his Personal Assistant, Mr. Nehemiah Muserah. He stated that the Constituency would like to sponsor students to MMUST, especially in TVET programmes. “The government is planning to have Technical Training Institutions (TTIs) in every County and I’m glad that Lurambi Constituency has MMUST. I believe that this University has what it takes to offer TVET programmes,” said Hon. Khamala.

Speaking during the event, Prof. Shibairo pointed out that MMUST is in the process of constructing an engineering and TVET complex, under which all TVET programmes will be housed. “The University is prepared to actualize partnerships with Lurambi Constituency as well as the communities around,” he said. Further, he called upon other Kakamega leaders to work together with training institutions for the development of the County.

MMUST TVET Deputy Director, Dr. Samuel Waweru, revealed that the University has created a pathway for students to study from Certificate to PhD level. “We are in the process of starting a programme that will recognize the skills of people working in the Jua Kali’ sectorWe will do so by issuing them with Certificates,” he added.

MMUST boasts of being one of the largest institutions of higher learning in Kenya which provide technical programmes in line with the government’s agenda of equipping more youth with skills. By hosting the Lurambi Constituency MP, the University has truly demonstrated its willingness to work with the community in order to push this development agenda.
