Theme: Innovative Technology Transfer for Universal Health Care (UHC), Food Security, Affordable Housing and Manufacturing for Sustainable Development


Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) in partnership with Kaimosi and Turkana University Colleges are hosting a Multi-Disciplinary International Research Conference on 13th – 15th May, 2020 under the Theme: Innovative Technology Transfer for Universal Health Care (UHC), Food Security, Affordable Housing and Manufacturing for Sustainable Development.  You are cordially invited to express your interest by sending Abstracts for your presentation during the event.

During the First, Second and Third Industrial Revolutions, the World experienced tremendous life changing scientific changes that were unknown to mankind hitherto. To-day, the World is on the verge of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.  The revolution is based on the merging of technologies and is expected to improve people’s life-styles to levels never known before.  For instance, as the Internet of Things (IoT) connects people, animals and objects for new discoveries, in the new envisaged faster moving World, Nations of the universe are quickly embracing innovative technologies to match and enhance the required fits for suitable operations in the unveiling circumstances a kin to new developments.

Among the nations, Kenya is positioning herself to play favourably in leagues of modern development through her ambitious and progressive various governments social-political-economic blue print plans aimed at the fulfilment of Vision 2030 and concurrently, the global Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.  These plans fall favourably into the African Union’s Agenda of 2063, when Africa is hoped to have strategically been transformed into the global powerhouse ensuring both quantitative and qualitative transformational outcomes for her citizenry. Not surprisingly, Kenya has concurrently positioned herself to achieve the Big Four Agenda: Universal Health Care; Manufacturing; Food Security and Affordable housing by 2022.  New Life-Styles are on the increase evidenced by E-Banking, Smart Agriculture, Tele-Medicine, Ordering a cab, booking a flight, new educational curricula, improved fabrication process and results, Modular construction techniques, 3D Printing Technologies and robotics among others.

The epicenter of new knowledge – The University, known for researched and evidenced knowledge has the onus to prepare and provide not only innovative technologies, but also the engines, that is, Manpower, to steer innovation in the various spheres of development.

This Multi-Disciplinary Research Conference is set to bring together researchers, practitioners, policy actors, industry players, philosophers, ethicists and technologists among others to reason together and reflect on the contributions, challenges and opportunities of innovative technology transfer for development of human kind in the field of health, food production, housing and manufacturing.  Your participation is welcome. Here is an opportunity to share your research findings with peers, industry, and our communities. We invite scholars to engage in discussions around but limited to the subthemes below.

 GENERAL SUBMISSION INFORMATION

The Abstract submissions should be made to any of the five subthemes: Universal Health Care, Food Security, Affordable Housing, Manufacturing, and   Cross Cutting.

  • The abstracts must not exceed 300 words. Proposal exceeding 300 will be rejected without review.
    • The abstract should include: Name, title, contact, and affiliation of the author(s)
    • A brief background of the study including the purpose, justification, objectives, theoretical framework (if applicable), methodology, significance, and practical implication of the study.
  • The Abstracts must include keywords. The committee will rely on information to assign appropriate reviewers.
  • All abstracts will be reviewed annoymasouly. Names of authors or participants should not appear within the abstract text.

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS EXTENDED TO MARCH 31ST 2020

Submit abstracts to: conference2020@mmust.ac.ke indicating the subtheme you are submitting to.

 If your proposal is accepted: you have a professional and ethical obligation to register for the conference and present your paper at the time and place specified by the organizing committee.

DIRECTION OF VENUE

The Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) main campus in Kenya is located 1 Km from Kakamega Central Business District (Kakamega CBD) on the Kakamega Webuye Road. The Masinde Muliro University institution in Kenya is located 42 Km from Webuye and 58 Km from Kisumu city in Kenya. The MMUST main campus in Kenya borders bukhungu stadium in Kenya and it is opposite Kakamega Approved School in Kenya.


If you want to access the Masinde Muliro University main campus in Kenya from Kakamega town, you can either decide to walk on foot or take a motorcycle. It takes someone a minimum of 20 minutes to the Masinde Muliro University main campus from Kakamega CBD in Kenya. The motorcycle means of transport in Kakamega takes a minimum of seven minutes to the Masinde Muliro University main campus from Kakamega CBD at a fee of Kshs.50. There are also boda boda of bicycles which can also take a person to the Masinde Muliro University main campus in Kakamega at an affordable fee of Kshs.30 from Kakamega town in Kenya.
