We are delighted to inform you that Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has today, 2nd March, 2023, hosted actor Oliver Litondo of Lakewood films to discuss possible areas of collaboration in film, theatre and performing arts. Mr. Litondo paid a courtesy call on Dr. Rose Opiyo, who was standing in for the Director of International Relations and Academic Linkages, Dr. Catherine Aurah. He was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Department of Language and Literature Education (LLE), Dr. Jairus Omuteche, as well as LLE staff members; Dr. Lencer Ndede and Ms. Lydia Madete.
During the courtesy call, the Kenyan actor pointed out that the film industry is very lucrative, adding that it is a sector that has attracted people with higher academic qualifications. He stated that Lakewood Films is ready to partner with MMUST in channeling out students who will compete with world class film makers. “As Africans, it is about time that we told our own stories through film, and there is no better place to start than in an institution like MMUST,” he said.
It is worth noting that this partnership is steered by the Department of LLE, which is housed in the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS).
