MMUST Hosts the Induction Ceremony of the Newly Recruited Police Officers

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has today 3rd March 2023, hosted the induction ceremony of the newly recruited police officers who were deployed in the Western region. The event was graced by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Planning Research & Innovation (DVC PR&I), Prof. Charles Mutai, who was standing in for the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo.

It attracted participants from the Ministry of Interior and National Administration (Western region), led by the Regional Police Commander, Mr. Kiprono Lagat; Regional DCI Officer, Mr. Chacha Magwe; Regional Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) Commander, Mr. Ramadhan Omar and the County Police Commander, Mr. Joseph Kigen.

Prior to the induction, the team paid a courtesy call to the Office of the Vice Chancellor, where it was received by Prof. Mutai. They discussed issues of mutual interest, including the establishment of a partnership that will see police officers enrol for relevant programmes in the University.

Prof. Mutai encouraged the new recruits to enrol for courses at MMUST, saying that the University is not only the best in western region, but also one of the top performing institutions in the country. Further, he commended the security team for being responsive to the needs of MMUST’s community.

Other notable MMUST members who addressed the participants include Prof. Kenneth Otieno, an Educational Psychologist who spoke on ‘Stress Management’; the Dean, School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance, Dr. Ferdinand Nabiswa; the Director Corporate Communications and marketing, Dr. Lydia Anyonje; the Chairperson of Criminology and Social Work Department, Dr. Evans Oruta, as well as the University’s Marketing Officer, Mr. James Muriithi.

It is worth noting that the event was organized in conjunction with the MMUST Liaison Office, which is headed by Mr. Moses Onyango.
