 Prof. Shiundu - DVC P,R & E The Division of Planning, Research and Extension is headed by a deputy vice chancellor, the incumbent being Prof J.O. Shiundu who is well known in academic cycles as a leading educationist, scholar, researcher and an experienced manager of institutions of higher learning.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor has the overall responsibility to provide leadership and coordinate the activities of the division to ensure that the university meets her mission and vision. He is assisted in running the division by the Registrar, Planning and the Director, Research, Extension and LinkagesSpecifically, the Deputy Vice Chancellor has the following responsibilities concerning research, extension and linkages;
- Development of appropriate research policy and programmes in conformity with ethical standards and legally recognized professional bodies.
- Promotion and co-ordination of research, scientific publications, innovation, extension, and technology transfer to the industry, business community, and society.
- Coordination of workshops and seminars on outreach programmes on technology transfer.
- Mobilisation and soliciting of financial support for research and extension programmes through fundraising activities from donor organisations, industry and business community.
- Maintenance of collaboration and linkages with both local and international institutions in the areas of research and innovation programmes.
- Promotion of knowledge dissemination to meet the needs of the university and the community through publications and exhibitions.
- Development of appropriate research policy and programmes in conformity with ethical standards and legally recognized professional bodies.
- Promotion and co-ordination of research, scientific publications, innovation, extension, and technology transfer to the industry, business community, and society.
