Nursing Students in Class
The School was originally established in 2008 and today is in the process of recruiting academic and support staff. The School's mission is to become a centre of excellence, conducting high quality research, promoting clinical practice and delivering high quality programmes that contribute to the health and prosperity of East and central Africa. The school is a network that by working closely with the international and local partners, seeks to enhance the health research and its dissemination, and so advance the development of evidence-based health policy and practice.

The SHS provides the infrastructure needed to develop and support multi-disciplinary research that extends across organizational boundaries within and between the University and its partners. This has been achieved by adopting a networked organizational structure.
