He appealed for calm as the University struggles to clear up past inequities inherited from the previous regime which have posed great challenges.

The Vice Chancellor was speaking on 5th August 2014 when he met all University staff members at the Main Catering Unit. The Vice Chancellor appealed to the University staff Unions to work together with the Management for the sake of all staff. He reiterated the need for dialogue for mutual benefit.

He added, ‘the new Management team has both the interest of the University at heart and the zeal to release the University from past mistakes and make it a great University of Science and Technology. He said he will ensure that all staff and students are protected by his administration.

The VC noted that the University is making great strides towards infrastructural development, where he outlined various projects earmarked as a priority for the good of all staff and students. 

Among the projects are the Building of low cost class rooms, the stalled Multi-purpose hall which is to be completed by January, Mens hostel, office complex to host staff offices, new engineering complex and refurbishing of all MMUST study centers. 

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by members of the Management Board among them, (DVC, PRI) Prof. Egara Kabaji, (DVC, A & F) Prof. J.K Rotich, the acting finance officer Mr. Bruno Ogama, Registrar (Admin) Mrs. Rachael Atamba and Registrar (Academics Affairs), Mr. Joash Mabonga.

In his opening remarks (DVC, PR&I) Prof. Egara Kabaji urged MMUST staff to embrace the Management. He said the management is fully committed to openness. He demystified the position of management and stressed on its mandate to serve all staff members on equal measures. 

The (DVC, A & F) Prof. J.K Rotich was optimistic that the University is on the right track to becoming a first-class University. He reiterated the need for staff to work together for prosperity.
