University staff have been urged to utilize the limited resources efficiently and effectively.

Addressing section heads during the signing of performance contract signing on Friday, 17th March 2017, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. FAO Otieno underscored the need to add value to University operations and to improve service delivery to our students and other stakeholders.

Prof. Otieno urged senior staff to ensure continued improvement of services and submit quarterly reports. He noted that the performance contracts should be cascaded to all workers in the University. He equated the provision of services in the University to the production line of the Mercedes Benz where each worker must play his role towards churning out of the end product. He termed it a cardinal sin for heads of sections who fail to monitor operations in their dockets.

Prof. Otieno revealed that plans are underway to introduce monitoring and evaluation of services within the University. The set targets of the Performance Contracts should reflect the content of appraisal forms.

The Vice Chancellor urged University staff to go beyond the call of duty by engaging in service to community. He added that a policy will be drawn to consider staff who sacrifice to enhance service delivery in the University.

Prof. Rotich, the DVC (A&F) who also signed his Performance Contract, called on staff to assess the set targets they had achieved the previous year.

Prof. W. Shivoga DVC, (PR&I), appealed to all the senior managers to make realistic targets and strive to achieve them.

Prof. J. Ngaira, the DVC (AS&A) stressed on the need for collective responsibility and individual input that would ensure that the set targets are achieved within the specific time.
