odelstoryThe Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (ODeL) MMUSTheaded by Prof Stephen Odebero is set to have many additional programmes on the ODeL platform in the next few months. Already over 10 modules are about to be completed and the Directorate is to embark on another phase of writing a set of e-learning modules. There are currently over 700 students pursuing various courses on the ODel Platform at MMUST. Indeed, as the University finalizes its course restructuring exercise the Directorate will also restructure its curriculum structure so to go in tandem with the University and CUE guidelines.

A workshop for module writers was held at Bishop Stam, Kakamega and a sensitization Workshop is soon to take place for all critical stakeholders and module writers.

The Modules if well written have the advantages of giving students more choice and a wider variety in learning and enable them to self-pace while for the lecture, online teaching affords him increased flexibility in content delivery. The modules are also well adaptable in terms of instructional especially when they are put under the Moodle platform which the University is using currently.
