There was song and dance as the MMUST Choir announced their arrival from the just concluded national music festivals that was held in Kisumu. The group danced their way within the University grounds before assembling at the Vice Chancellor’s Square where they sang the University anthem passionately.

The group was welcomed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor(Administration and Finance), Professor Joseph Rotich who was accompanied by the Acting Principal of Kaimosi University College, Professor Jack Nandi, Director ODEL Professor Stephen Odebero and Director, DPCAP, Dr Bob Mbori. 

The MMUST Choir under the leadership of Mr Sumba Shitambasi, had an outstanding performance having brought home a total of 8 trophies, with the folk song and male set piece categories bagging some of the most prestigious trophies. Both Professor Nandi and Professor Odebero showered the group with praise and words of encouragement for the victory and urged them to uphold the winning spirit. 

“You have done it. You will do even better,” Prof Nandi observed.

He suggested that both the Main and the new Kaimosi University College pull efforts together to form a winning combination. He also urged the University management to take advantage of the choir team to market the university to the public.

Dr. Bob Mbori, who was in Kisumu City to watch the choir perform stated that he shared with some of the national music officials to have the 2016 Festivals come to Kakamega and be held in the MMUST Multipurpose hall which is almost complete. The final day of the 2015 Music Festivals at CETAM Hall, Kisumu was graced by the the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Professor Jacob Kaimenyi.

The DVC (A &F) Professor Rotich welcomed the team home and hailed them for their great achievement despite the challenges they may have met and the stiff competition they had faced from other universities. He promised that the University Management will look into challenges that may hold back the group and also stated that the budget for co-curricular activities will be enhanced in the future.
