The management of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has put all measures in place that will see the Engineers’ Board of Kenya (EBK) accredit all the three Engineering programmes offered by Faculty of Engineering in MMUST.

This assurance was made by Vice Chancellor Prof. F.A.O Otieno when he met Mr. Samuel Waweru who was representing Ag. Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Richard Onchiri, and the departmental heads of Civil and Structural Engineering, Prof. Ndiema, Electrical and Communication Engineering Chairman, Dr. Tom Wanjekeche and Eng. Daniel Ogenga of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering on Thursday, 23rd July 2015 to deliberate on the best option of addressing the EBK accreditation stalemate.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Otieno who was flanked by DVC, Administration and Finance, Prof. Rotich acknowledged the report from EBK and called for swift action by all the departments in ensuring that MMUST addresses the gray areas that had been pointed out by EBK.

MMUST will within the next one month spend at least Ksh. 20m towards equipping of the Engineering laboratories. The VC also revealed that the University will within a week’s time advertise and fill vacant positions for technicians and lecturers so as to beef up the human resource capacity as per the EBK threshold.

“The University enjoys a cordial relationship with EBK and we have in response to their report requested for a meeting between EBK and MMUST that will see all the programmes that we offer accredited,” Prof. Otieno said.
