Progress for accreditation by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) is on course.

This was revealed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Students Affairs, Prof. Josephine Ngaira.

Addressing members of the MMUST accreditation committee, Prof. Ngaira announced that two thematic leaders in the field of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering have been identified for appointment as adjunct lecturers. The two are Eng. Munyasi and Eng. Mohamed A. Swale.

The MMUST accreditation committee was also informed that appointment letters for two other thematic leaders have been issued. Prof. Mercel Odhiambo and Prof. Afulo Odhiambo have been appointed as Thematic leaders in the fields of Electronics Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering respectively.

A call for applications in all fields of Engineering has been floated so as to fill any vacant position within the Faculty of Engineering. This will go a long way in ensuring that there are adequate members of staff to train the Engineering students.

Assuring students about the University management’s commitment to ensure all academic programmes are accredited by the relevant professional bodies, Prof. Ngaira commended the Engineering students for exhibiting maturity in handling issues regarding their wellbeing.

At the accreditation committee meeting which was attended by the Dean and Departmental heads from the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ngaira noted that it is just a matter of time before EBK gives MMUST the nod.
